Carlo Sirolla is Veronese by adoption, but for 40 years he has been deeply integrated into the tradition, the atmosphere, and the spirit of the city of Verona. He understands its culture and history, its artistic merits, its historical and cultural imitators, and its prominent figures. He has created several city monuments, but his work is recognized nationally.
In particular, however, the commissioning of several sculptures of the last Popes of the Roman Church (Pope John XXIII, Pope Wojtyla, Pope Ratzinger) have earned him the title of “Sculptor of Popes.” Currently, one of his celebrated works dedicated to Pope Karol Wojtyla is on display in Verona at the Church of the Holy Cross in Buttapietra.
In 2005, Carlo Sirolla received private funding and specific approval from Paolo Zanotto, then Mayor of Verona, for the creation of the bronze bust of the poet and writer Berto Barbarani. He works in his own studio in Castel D’Azzano (VR) in via Marconi, 51 where some of his works are visible to everyone.
