The unveiling of the statue of Pope John II in the Church of Buttapietra was inaugurated with a special blessing from Bishop Pompili of Verona and the municipal authorities. The entire community was deeply moved.
Nineteen years on the move
Nineteen years on the move
The work—created to keep alive the memory of Karol Wojtyla—has undergone various stages and projects that have never materialized, including proposals for bronze casting, temporary relocations, and requests for hospitality (including visits to Castel d’Azzano and the San Zeno area). In recent years, it was visible under the portico of the Castel d’Azzano town hall; in August, it was moved to the community of Buttapietra, where it is now permanently on display.
