“The Miner” is a sculpture in Lecce marble that portrays the superhuman strength of the lion that the miner has within himself, who must dig with all his strength to extract from the rubble his friend and colleague who has now died in the collapse of the mine.
The artistic journey of Carlo Sirolla has been documented over the years by curator and art historian Monica Saracino, now a lecturer in literature, who has created a comprehensive catalogue of his oeuvre. Through her work, Maestro’s place among artists of international repute has been firmly established.
