The statue, “The Unity Flame,” was donated to the Italian Embassy in Lusaka, a tribute by sculptor Carlo Sirolla, and was placed in the garden in front of the entrance.
The ceremony was attended by His Excellency Ambassador Filippo Scammacca del Murgo, members of the Italian community in Lusaka, Zambian dignitaries, and figures from the art world.
The artistic journey of Carlo Sirolla has been documented over the years by curator and art historian Monica Saracino, now a lecturer in literature, who has created a comprehensive catalogue of his oeuvre. Through her work, Maestro’s place among artists of international repute has been firmly established.
